Fresh of his player of the month award for the month of March star point guard Tyrik Armstrong continued his terrific run of form by putting on a must see display against recently crowned #BBL champions Leicester Riders in Fridays retro night bash. The 25 year old became only the third Giants player since 2012 to earn a player of the month award whilst playing for the Manchester side. He joined Rob Marsden (2014) and Willie Clayton (2018,2019). He was awarded the award after leading his Giants team to a 4-2 record in a month where he averaged 16.6 points, 6.8 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. In a pre match interview before the Leicester Riders game Tyrik stated that “Its a blessing to see that all his hard work is paying off ” in response to being named player of the month.

After the announcement at the start of the month there was a huge buzz around the build up to the Giants Riders clash. Both teams stepped on to the Morningside Arena Court decked out in throwback jerseys which gave long term fans the opportunity to bring back some of their classic jerseys to wear in the stands. Tyrik Armstrong who mentioned in an interview he believes “the giants are one of the best teams in the league", recorded a double double in a performance worthy of giving Leicester a second loss of the season by the hands of the Giants. He ended the game with a stat line of 21 points 10 assists and 3 rebounds however that wouldn't be enough for a victory. The FT score was 88-82 to the Riders in a very close back and fourth matchup.
The Giants still find themselves 4th in the table after Fridays result. They have a day rest before they return to their hope stadium of Belle Vue where they play bottom of the league Surrey Scorchers where they are heavy favourites. Tip off for that game is 5pm Sunday the 10th.
