After a cagey affair, Sheffield Steelers grabbed the victory in the 49th minute through Brandon Whistle to break Manchester Storm hearts. The victory for the Steelers leaves them just 2 points behind the Belfast Giants with a game in hand in an exhilarating title race in the Elite Ice Hockey League.

The Steelers took the lead through Robert Dowd on the 13th minute; however, they were unable to put the Storm to bed. The Storm took their chance and clawed the game back level in the 38th minute through Frankie Melton and filled the away side with hope going into the final period of the match.

Despite their brave efforts, the Storm were unsuccessful in their attempt to stop the title chasing Steelers and lost the game in the final period to a Brandon Whistle goal in the 49th minute. The game was incredibly even, with the home side having 41 shots to the Storm’s 38, with Sheffield having 26 attempts on target to the Storm’s 20 on target. The Storm also attained 3 power plays to Steelers’ 1.

The loss in Sheffield leaves the Storm 9th in the league with 14 wins from 47. The Steelers are chasing the title and are 2 points behind 1st placed Belfast Giants with a game in hand. The Storm will get their chance at revenge this week, as they will face the Steelers once again on Wednesday the 30th of March at home.
